Shopify vs Direct - Which Integration Should I Use?

Feedback Guru offers two ways to connect: Shopify (for Shopify stores) and Direct (for everyone else). Here is when to pick which.

Feedback Guru sends automated review requests to your customers and routes them to the review platforms you choose (Google, Yelp, Trustpilot, and 25+ more). How we get your customer data depends on which integration you use.

Two integration types

Shopify integration

Best for: Stores that run on Shopify.

  • You install Feedback Guru from the Shopify App Store.
  • Your store and orders sync automatically. No code, no email setup.
  • When an order is fulfilled, Feedback Guru sends a review request email to your customer after your configured delay and directs them to the review URLs you’ve configured.
  • Billing is through Shopify (subscription appears on your Shopify bill).

When to pick Shopify: Your store is on Shopify. Use this path for the simplest setup and automatic order sync.

Direct integration

Best for: Any platform that can BCC an email address on its shipping confirmation or service-fulfillment email. We’ve confirmed BCC works with WooCommerce and Adobe Commerce (Magento 2). Other systems that allow a BCC or additional-recipient field on transactional emails may work too. If yours does, you can use Direct.

  • You sign up at app.feedback.guru and subscribe via the subscription tab in your account.
  • We give you a unique BCC email address after you've signed up. You add that address to the BCC field of your shipping or service confirmation emails.
  • Set your review request delay, and the review websites you wish to send your customers to, to review you.
  • When a customer receives that email (and your system BCC’s us), we detect it and send them a review request. We use the BCC’d email to know who the customer is, no coding required.

When to pick Direct: You’re not on Shopify, or you prefer not to use the Shopify app. Your system must be able to add a BCC address to the emails you send when orders ship or services are completed.

Once you’re in Feedback Guru, both paths use the same dashboard: you add Review Websites (Google, Yelp, etc.) and set the percentage of traffic each platform gets. The only difference is how customers enter the system (Shopify orders vs. BCC’d emails).
