Why We Built Feedback Guru
We were running e-commerce stores and knew that reviews mattered - a lot. More reviews on Google meant better local rankings. More reviews on Yelp meant more walk-ins. Many reviews across multiple platforms meant stronger social proof. The problem was getting customers to all of them.
Every few weeks we'd be back in the checkout success page, tweaking the heuristic for which review site to send customers to. One store needed more Google reviews, another needed Yelp. The code changes were tedious, the logic was fragile, and managing it across multiple websites was a headache nobody wanted.
We just wanted a simple tool where we could set it up once, control where reviews go with a few simple settings, and never touch code again.
So we built one.
From Side Project to Product
What started as an internal tool quickly became something other store owners wanted. The percentage-based routing - the ability to say "send 60% of customers to Google and 40% to Yelp" - turned out to be something nobody else offered. And the fact that it required zero code changes or theme edits made it easy for anyone to use.
We launched Feedback Guru on the Shopify App Store and via Direct integration for businesses on other platforms. Today, merchants use Feedback Guru to send hundreds of thousands of review requests across 25+ review platforms, all on autopilot.
